UNESCO World Heritage Site Muskauer Park / Park Mużakowski

Muskauer Park. Where art becomes nature.

Site Description

The UNESCO Muskauer Park / Park Mużakowski is a transborder English-style landscape park. The German section of the park, which is home to the residence, is located in the town of Bad Muskau, while the Polish landscape section is situated in Łęknica. In total, the park covers an area of 728 hectares, and includes over 40 km of footpaths. The creator of the park was Fürst Pückler, who devoted his life to his three great loves: the designing of parks, two of which have been designated UNESCO world heritage sites (Muskauer Park and Park Babelsberg in Potsdam), travelling and women, the latter earning him the nickname “Casanova of Lausitz”. The genius and madness of the prince, who was known throughout Europa as an author, garden expert, traveller and lover, also transferred into his work, which is considered as one of the most beautiful examples of 19th century garden art.
