Muskauer Faltenbogen is one of 169 areas of the world that have been granted the status of UNESCO Global Geopark. This title was awarded in 2015 to recongnise its to exceptional geological sites and landscapes of international importance. Muskauer Faltenbogen represents a younger period of the Earth‘s history in the worldwide geopark network,
especially the Ice Age and the extraordinary history of mining and industry, which shaped this German-Polish territory into a unique cultural landscape.
