LAND-ART GALLERY IN JABLONEČEK (Ralsko, CZ)

art - nature - virtual reality

Popis zážitku

There used to be a village here, where a rocket base was built. Of the 205 houses that once made up Jabloneček, just two were preserved: the Czech and German schools. All that remains on the hill where the church once stood is a pile of stones. The people left, but traces of them remain: cellars, waterholes, and foundations.

Reviving the memory of a defunct village through natural art

The dramatic landscape produces a powerful atmosphere which inspires artists in their creation. It would be hard to find a more suitable place for a land art festival than the abandoned villages in Ralsko. This festival of natural art that is created and remains in nature has been held in Geopark Ralsko since 2016. Czech, Polish and German artists, who use only natural materials to create their fleeting installations, revive the ruined villages, creating unique experiences for visitors.

A transient conversation

It is beautiful to see trees with clay faces in the overgrown apple orchard, house frames
made of sticks in the former village square, or fragile twigs of hope on the rough concrete surface of the former military shooting range. Every year, new works of art are created, remaining in the ruined villages as long as they can withdstand the weather. This is how land art artists speak with the past, and anyone can join in the discussion.

Jabloneček in virtual reality

The combination of history and state-of-the-art technology – that is the mobile application that helps tell the story of the abolished villages. First download the application, and then head out to Jabloneček, perhaps by bike. There are information boards in the former villages to which the application responds by loading a photograph. What will it show you? That will be a surprise!
