ROCK THEATRE (Skalní divadlo)

A small sandstone rock formation with unique "iron logs" and a rock gate.

Site Description

To understand why these rock formations are called Skalní divadlo (Rock theatre), you would have to see it from up above: then you would see it resembles an amphitheater. But the rock ridge will thrill you even without this view. Although it doesn’t exactly tower over the crowns of the pine trees, you can walk around it on an open footpath. You will be rewarded with the opportunity to climb through a natural arch, look out a rock window, and admire a clock made of rock up close, as well as a large “petrified tree” – signs at the signpost will tell you that we owe its origin to iron. Here is where dark, horizontal “logs” are formed, with a length of up to several dozens of meters. The dark mineral also draws beautiful ornaments in the yellow sandstone.
