Jerischke

The geopark centre is also a centre for education

Site Description

The Jerischke Schullandheim places high value on sustainable environmental awareness. Its environmental education projects in particular offer guests the possibility to take an active part in nature, experiencing it with all the senses. A Schullandheim (literally: school countryside hostel) is a residential centre where pupils and teachers can take park in educational extracurricular activities.
As well as offering important scientific topics, such as environmental education, which is taught outdoors with a practical focus, the schullandheim also aims to present the history of the ice age and the Muskauer Faltenbogen in a vivid and natural way. We hope that the centre will increasingly become not only an important point of contact, but also a place of learning for geologically inclined citizens and a focal point for excursions into the Muskauer Faltenbogen geopark.
Explorer’s quest: The large picture in the atrium of the information centre shows the landscape of the Muskauer Faltenbogen during a glacial period. Which large mammals lived here side by side with mammoths during this period?
