King’s seat
Site Description
You will be surprised by the wide, comfortable plateau on this lookout rock, which is not very high. Even though the crowns of the nearest pines tower over it, you can get a view of the surface of Lake Mácha through them with a little effort. The lookout got its name from legends, according to which King Charles IV himself liked to rest here and admire his work, the Great Pond aka Lake Mácha. To give the king sufficient comfort, it is said that a bench and a table were carved into the rock, the top of which was perfectly smoothed and the legs richly decorated.
There is no evidence of that here today, if it ever existed. Even so, you can make a pleasant stop at this warm and inviting lookout. You’ll have to sit on the sandstone, but you’ll be rewarded with royal peace!
