Malá Buková
Site Description
The road to the round peak of volcanic origin leads through a sea of pine. Everything is round here: the valley and the rocks, sitting on the ridge like a set of plates, along which you can comfortably ascend to the top (if you take Stará mělnická cesta). The view from the top is already partially obscured by trees, but you will find more peace here than anywhere else. You should follow the yellow marked trail that circles the peak; it will lead you to unexpectedly white sandstone rock formations and black basalt outcrops, making Malá Buková a geological wonder – this is a little peek into the kitchen in which Ralsko was cooking for 90 million years. There is an information panel on the spot. You can combine your trip with a walk along Geological educational trail through Bukové hory.
