Strážov
Site Description
The location of the defunct village is simply beautiful. Its inhabitants could see Bezděz from their doorstep; it extended south of the village as a great protector. However, it failed to protect the village from military occupation, with its last few houses disappearing after the Second World War. To this day, a meadow surrounded by pine forests lets us know that people lived here: several preserved cellars, a well and a group of mature oaks in the middle of the clearing suggest this. Old bushy oaks, some twisted by age, are complemented by new rows of young trees. Chapters from the history of not only this village but Ralsko as a whole can be found on wooden stands at the signpost.
